The more things change...

The more they really change. As if our wedding isn't enough to prepare for, Kira and I are moving. Starting in March (I'll be up a bit earlier than Kira, she'll be joining me in April), we'll be calling Hoboken our new home. We found a great place on the north end of town...an old brownstone, really well maintained, lots of nice little things. We'll be on the top 2 floors, the owners live downstairs. It's funny, the crux of the whole deal was, of course, the dogs. But instead of the usual problems with 2 big dogs in a rental, the landlords primary concern was how well our Luna and Denali got along with their dog, Semphi. So last Sunday, we arranged for a meeting, an interview, if you like, between the 3 dogs. To say it went well would be an understatement. Luna and Denali were so well behaved, they set everyone at ease...they will no doubt be as equally eye catching in Hoboken as they are in Philadelphia.
The next few weeks will be a bit hectic, though that seems to be the rule rather than the exception around here the last few months. Kira has been really busy with work, lots of deadlines with her latest project...and I'm trying my best to adapt to a trading environment which seems to change on a weekly basis. We're both trying our best, and we realize how fortunate we are that these are some of our "problems".
There are, of course, lots of things to talk about with regards to the wedding. At this point, nearly everyone should have their save the dates (except for the handful of close friends and coworkers I've neglected...I really am a horrible person). We took care of quite a few things in the past month (DJ, officiant, rehearsal dinner/BBQ) which we'll detail in an update shortly (I swear we will get a lot better about posting more frequently). So much going on, so much to talk about, so much to look forward to.

My Turn

Now that Mike has shown me how to use this blog... I guess it's my turn to "post."

Mike took me to New Paltz, NY for my first rock climbing trip Halloween weekend, 2005. We'd been dating for just about 10 months, and I knew that this weekend in the mountains was "The Test." Mike's love for climbing and the outdoors was something that he hoped I'd share - or at least understand and appreciate - so off we went. I must admit... I was terrified (I'm afraid of heights).

Despite my crying at the top of "3 Pines," I learned exactly what it is about climbing that Mike loves so much; and more importantly, I learned that I had found someone who I can grow with, who will support me, challenge me, push me, tolerate my "grrr moments" and wipe away my tears.

New Paltz is a special place for us. We can't wait to share a little piece of this with each of you in June.

Happy New Year!

And so it begins...a new year, new hopes and dreams for everyone. Kira and I have so much to be thankful for in the past year, and even more to look forward to in '07. We've decided to start this site to keep in touch with everyone, friends and family near and far, as we look forward to our wedding in June (the 9th...it's official). The wedding will be in New Paltz, NY, at a beautiful farm called Raindancer. We realize that most of you aren't too familiar with the area, so we hope to make things a bit easier for everyone...places to stay and eat, things to do. It really is an amazing place, and has taken on such a special meaning for us...we're really excited about sharing the day with everyone. Happy New Year...
